£4.2M Marketing Boost
Visit Wales have announced that they hope they will be able to expand on some planned international campaigns.
The fresh cash was announced in an Assembly debate on Sustainable Tourism. The Minister, speaking in the debate, said that the new money has come from a Objective One bonus as a result of Pound/Euro exchange rates.
It follows WTA working closely with the Assembly Government on the Industry Review- and the Alliance’s consistent argument for additional resources and a prioritising for tourism whenever it was possible for the Government to invest further in the industry’s marketing needs.
“This new money will help to boost the industry at a time when there are reports from members of an uncertain market,” said Julian Burrell, the WTA’s Chairman. “It will also help us to keep up with the competition within the UK for the new 2009 campaign.
“We are absolutely delighted that the Government has listened and responded to our arguments for additional investment in tourism marketing and the economic benefits that it will bring with it,” he said.
